beekeeper@triad.rr.com
http://cockhillapiary.info
Cockhill Apiary is a small apiary located in Colfax, NC. We specialize in local wildflower honey from the Guilford/Forsyth County area. Our honey is organic (non-certified) raw, honey that has not been refined. Our bees are not treated with any chemicals or antibiotics, as are most commercial beekeepers, so the honey you get is pure. We only sell the current year's crop - all honey is fresh from the bees to the bottle to your table. Our honey is made from a mixture of wildflowers within a three mile radius of our home. Sources include tulip poplar, red maple, dandelion, violet, thistle and black locust. It is an amber, rich honey, full of flavor. The honey flow begins in our area about the 25th of February, when the red maples start to bloom. Various wildflowers come in before our main honeyflow, the tulip poplar flow, begins. The summer has a dearth of nectar available for the bees; they forage mostly on clover and a few wildflowers in July and August. The fall flow of goldenrod and aster begins in late September. We harvest our honey both in the late spring and fall. We sell online and locally. Please visit our website at http://cockhillapiary.info for more information and to order.

We offer a wide variety of delicious fruit, including cherries, peaches and apples. Our operation is now "Pick Your Own." Beginning in the middle of May, we have cherries (Stells, Sams, and Bings). Before we're completely out of cherries, we start picking peaches. We have early clings (yellow) to semi-cling (yellow and white) to freestone (yellow and white). We also have Georgia Bells. Then while we're still into peaches, we start picking apples, our earliest being Lodis and Jonathans. We practice integrated pest management (low spray) to use the lowest amount of pesticides and fungicides. We started this practice because we have grandchildren that like to pick their own.
Don’t forget to try our fresh squeezed, unpasteurized cider! We also have delicious jams and butters. You can also find our fruit at the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market, the King Farmers Market, M-N-M Grocery (Ararat), Kasco Produce (Mt. Airy) and J & S Organics. Call for details!
